Appearance

Clear ruby red.

Nose

Subdued. Some cherries and red fruit.

Palate

Medium-bodied with plenty of cherries, black and red currants, and a gentle spiciness on the front palate. Hints of vanilla. Little acidity. Not overly tannic but what tannins there are impart a slightly harsh, though not dominant, woody character.

Overall

This 'tinto' (blended red – malbec-dominant, in this case) is approachable, pleasantly warming, and not lacking in fruit. It is, however, lacking in depth, complexity, and the balance of characteristics needed to make a wine worth drinking for its own sake. Far from undrinkable, though, and reasonable value for quaffing with hearty red-sauced pastas, pizza, or even barbequed meats.
