Cabernet Sauvignon Reservado

2002

Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza

AR$? (US$?)

Appearance

Even, bright scarlet with some violet hues.

Nose

Earthy, but with bright red fruit (plums, raspberries, currants), as well as blackcurrants, wood, leather, a hint of vanilla.

Palate

Medium bodied. Earthy, with hints of chocolate and leather. Red plums, black and red currants, with a bright, crisp acidity. Good fine tannins, and good length.

Overall

A very well balanced, complex and satisfying wine. Nice deep earthy characters and complexities, reflecting its 12 months in French oak and the characteristics of the vineyard and vintage, but these haven't been garnered at the expense of the fruit which is still very much present. A moderate 13.8% alcohol indicates the grapes were harvested with a good acid content and this shows in the brightness. Well worthwhile.
